Karnataka & North Kerala Tour (17 Days)

ITINERARY : Bangalore – Hassan – Coorg – Wayanad – Calicut – Tellicherry – Kannur – Neeleshwaram – Kannur

This journey begins with heritage, architecture and the plantation stay in Karnataka and enters Kerala wildlife and tribal village experience. In the middle the pace changes to the traditional homestay experience in Calicut and Tellicherry with a bit of Cooking and TUK TUK ride and later telling the story about the folklores of Kannur and weaving mill visit. It then takes you to a relaxing houseboat cruise in the serene backwaters of North Kerala and ends with a secluded beach stay at Neeleshwaram highlighted with Theyyam demonstration.

Day 1: Bangalore

Arrival at Bangalore Airport. Transfer to prebooked hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Evening explore the city. Overnight stay.

Day 2: Hassan (Bangalore – Hassan 3 Hrs /182Kms)

After breakfast checkout from the hotel and proceed to Hassan. Enroute visit Shravanabelagola. Shravanabelagola is one of the most popular Jain pilgrimage center in South India. It is famous for the Bahubali Statue which is supposed to be the tallest monolithic stone statue in the world with a height of 58 feet carved out of a single block of granite.Overnight stay in hassan.

Day 3: Hassan

After breakfast checkout from the hotel and proceed for sightseeing. visit Belur Chanakeswara and Halebid Hoysaleswara temples. The temple is listed as UNESCO World heritage Site. The temples are famous for Hoysala architecture made of stones during 12th century . Overnight stay in Hassan.

Day 4: Coorg (Hassan – Coorg (2 Hrs /108Kms)

After breakfast checkout from the hotel and proceed to Hassan, the Scotland of India. Check into a colonial bungalow inside the middle of a coffee plantation owned by Tata Coffee Ltd. A beautiful place to relax and enjoy a plantation experience.

Day 5: Coorg

Early morning enjoy a walk through the plantation. A Guided trekking inside the estate will help you learn about the coffee plantation business. This place produce one of the finest coffee beans in the world. Evening proceed to Madikkeri for sightseeing of Abbey falls, Rajas seat and Madikkeri fort. Overnight stay in plantation bungalow.

Day 6: Wayanad (Coorg - Wayanad (2.5 Hrs /107Kms)

A very scenic drive takes you to Wayanad from Coorg. Wildlife sightings are very common during this drive and if you are lucky enough you can spot Tuskers also. Check into beautiful resort at Wayanad. Rest and relax for the day. Overnight stay at resort.

Day 7: Wayanad

After breakfast visit Edakkalcaves. Edakkal caves has writings of neolithical age. Evening go for a Jungle safari in Muthanga. Optional activities includes wildlife trekking, tribal village visit, Village walk etc. Overnight stay at resort.

Day 8: Calicut ( Wayanad - calicut (2.5 Hrs /85Kms)

Drive through Thamarassery churam ghat road offers you a breathtaking view of Kerala hills. Afternoon reach Calicut. Check into traditional homestay Harivihar. This is a 170 year old traditional house converted into homestay. Experience authentic North Kerala cuisine and Ayurveda therapy. Overnight stay at homestay.

Day 9: Calicut

Explore Calicut in a tuk tuk (common mans commute of Kerala). Setailed itinerary attached. This will be a different experience for the guest.

Day 10: Tellicherry (Calicut – Tellicherry (2 Hrs /70 Kms)

Reach tellicherry check into homestay Ayisha Manzil. Enjoy authentic cuisine prepared by the host. This homestay is well known for its culinary. They also conduct a cooking demonstration for the guests to be a part of. Overnight stay at homestay.

Day 11: Tellicherry

Go for a morning walk to Tellicherry market and harbour with Mr. Moosa the host. He is a very knowledgeable person and this will be a different experience. Later sightseeing includes Fort, Gundert residence. Overnight stay at homestay.

Day 12: Kannur (Tellicherry - Kannur (30 mins /18 Kms)

Proceed to Kannur known as the city of Looms and Lores. This place has a rich tradition and lot to tell about its culture, traditions and lifestyle. Check into beach homestay. Evening visit Arakkal museum, St.Angelos Fort. Overnight stay.

Day 13: Kannur (Tellicherry - Kannur (30 mins /18 Kms)

Sightseeing includes visiting the Handloom weavers, Dinesh society which makes tiny cigerattes of Kerala called the Beedi. Evening visit the famous Madayippara.

Day 14: Lotus Houseboat (Kannur – Neeleshwaram (1.5 hours /55 Kms)

A kerala tour is not finished without a houseboat trip. Embark Lotus houseboat plying in the backwaters of north Kerala. Overnight stay.

Day 15: Neeleshwaram

Checkout from Houseboat and checkin to Neeleshwar Hermitage. This property is best for relaxation. take a rejuvenation therapy at their Spa. Enjoy lip smacking food and drink sitting near the private beach area of this property.

Day 16: Neeleshwaram

Sightseeing includes. visiting toddy shop, experience toddy tapping and fishing. Theyyam face painting demonstration, pottery making etc.

Day 17: Departure – Kannur Airport

Bid farewell for the day.
